Although a box office and critical disaster upon its 2006 arrival, Michael Mann‘s film adaptation of the hit series Miami Vice has gained a strong cult following ever since, with many calling it one of the most underrated movies of the 2000s. Perhaps it shouldn’t be surprising then that, almost two decades on, the film is finally finding a semblance of success, officially joining the top 10 most-streamed movies on Starz as of Tuesday, June 3, 2025.

Having since been critically re-evaluated by many and labeled one of the director’s most radical films, Miami Vice has gained a strong following in spite of its initial reception. Starring Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx as undercover detectives Crockett and Tubbs, the film drew just a 47% critics’ score on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, with the movie faring worse with audiences, as they awarded Miami Vice just 43%. It would seem that the aforementioned Farrell would agree, with the Irish Academy Award nominee once saying of the film, “Miami Vice? I didn’t like it so much – I thought it was style over substance and I accept a good bit of the responsibility.”

Well, Starz subscribers disagree with Farrell, with Miami Vice sitting in #9 in a list full of other eye-catching titles. At #10, viewers are addicted to the 2023 Elizabeth Banks hit, Cocaine Bear, with #8 going the way of Lionsgate’s Flight Risk. 2024 horror Imaginary is at #7, Henry Cavill‘s period action epic The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare is at #6, and the top 5 begins with Ariel Vromen‘s 1992. Jason Statham’s Expend4bles is at #4, with #3 going the way of the Stephen Lang-led Officer Down. Topping Starz’s most-watched list is currently the much-derided The Exorcist: Believer.
