A month from today, people will believe a man can fly. James Gunn and DC Studios have revealed the latest trailer for Superman, the summer blockbuster that will usher the DC brand into a new era for Warner Bros. David Corenswet stars as the titular hero in the first theatrical release from the DC Universe Gunn has been building alongside Peter Safran. Iconic characters from the pages of DC Comics will come to life on the big screen. As Clark Kent attempts to become accepted by the humans he constantly saves, one man will try to expose him as a threat to the entire planet.
The new trailer for Superman focuses directly on the rivalry between the titular hero and Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult). The villain is tired of people such as Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan) trying to prove that Superman is a good person. The new trailer for the movie also gives audiences a new look at the action they can expect from James Gunn’s latest directorial effort. Massive destruction, dynamic fights and thrilling flying sequences will all be featured in the debut of the DCU on the big screen.
After Superman makes its way to the big screen, Warner Bros. will continue to work on the future installments of the franchise. Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will feature Milly Alcock as Clark’s cousin. And after the Kryptonians give viewers a taste of how unpredictable this universe can be, Clayface will present one of the biggest tragedies from the pages of DC Comics to audiences from all over the world. The sky is the limit for Warner Bros.’ latest initiative to compete against the Marvel Cinematic Universe at the global box office.
The Cast of ‘Superman’
The latest Superman trailer features Lex Luthor trying to learn more about the hero’s past. The dangerous villain isn’t aware that Martha (Neva Howell) and Jonathan Kent (Pruitt Taylor Vince) raised the young Kal-El like their own son. James Gunn has also selected Nathan Fillion to play Guy Gardner, a member of the Green Lantern Corps. After delivering a strong performance in the second season of The Last of Us, Isabela Merced will soar through the sky as the intrepid Hawkgirl. Gunn has assembled a star-studded cast with the intention of turning Superman into one of the most unforgettable movies of this summer. The Last Son of Krypton will be back on the big screen for the first time in many years.
Superman flies into theaters on July 11. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
