Over the last few months, a phenomenon has emerged in the “nugu” boy group, with members being announced to take a hiatus.
Netizens could quickly guess that this was related to the upcoming season of Boys Planet, titled Boys Planet 2. Boys Planet was a survival show that showed the formation of ZEROBASEONE.
Boys Planet 2 is set to begin on July 17 and has announced some changes from the previous season.
Boys Planet featured two trainee groups — Group K and Group G. Group K was made up of Korean trainees, while Group G comprised “Global” trainees from China, Japan, and other places.
Boys Planet 2 will also include trainees being split into teams. This time, instead of a “Global” group, there is a Planet C made up of Chinese trainees.
The program will be split by these two groups, including a premiere date of July 18 for Planet C.
An additional change to the show will also feature the top 7 trainees from Planet K and C combining to form one 14 membered global group.
Many have already shared their skepticism towards this concept, citing WakeOne’s current treatment of foreign trainees.

Though some are excited over the possibility of a large group with a concept similar to EXO’s earlier days, another detail has stood out, this time sparking some cringy reactions.
The details of the show profess that a “Alpha Boy Group” will be formed, again using the describer “Alpha” to describe the energy of the 160 trainees.
Usage of the word “Alpha” to describe someone can have a number of meanings, including the fanfiction trope of Alpha/Beta/Omega dynamics.
As a result, fans have already expressed some feelings about the usage of the word.
