After 9 Seasons of home transformations, heartwarming stories, and southern charm, Home Town is hitting pause — but not for long. Erin Napier recently took to Instagram with an announcement that sent fans into a temporary panic: no new episodes until winter. But before HGTV loyalists start spiraling, there’s good news ahead. The Napiers aren’t going anywhere, they’re just recharging for what’s next. Here’s what Erin revealed about the break, and why it might be exactly what the show needs.
What is the Future of ‘Home Town?’
In her post discussing the season finale, Erin also wrote, “Love that y’all think this means we are getting a break, but it mostly just means it takes a whole year to renovate all the houses you watch in 6 months, so the work never stops, the viewing just does.” As much as the fans hope that they’ll be taking their summer for themselves, they’re filling their dockets with new projects, likely for the series. The fan favorite couple will be staying on HGTV through at least 2027, extending their contract earlier this year.
Home Town has been given the green light for 32 additional episodes. That means 32 properties in Laurel, Miss., will get the beloved Napier reno! At the time of the announcement, the Napiers shared a statement saying, “The HGTV family is where we belong. Shows are often impermanent, but Home Town endures, we think, because it lives on a network that teaches and gives comfort to people. It’s more than pretty houses. That’s something we are proud to be part of.” As far as the status of Home Town Takeover‘s fourth season, that announcement has yet to be made. Home Town Takeover Season 3 aired in the split between the two parts of Home Town‘s most recent season. Ben and Erin took over the City on the Circle known as Sebring, Florida in one of the biggest projects to date.

How Erin and Ben Napier Put Laurel on the Map
Before Ben and Erin came to HGTV, you may never have heard of Laurel, Mississippi before. But once the Home Town boom took off, Laurel became synonymous with the show’s hosts. Their love and devotion for Laurel, the place where Erin grew up, and the couple has decided to put down their roots, is a central character of their show. Certainly, the concept of helping a hometown is central to their spin-off. There’s absolutely no other way that the Napiers could have a truly honest spin-off series if it were not based in Laurel.
For the most part, Home Town focuses on individuals who have connections to the small hamlet, but thanks to the show, Home Town has brought visitors into town who have opted never to leave! With 17,000 people calling Laurel home, Laurel was founded as a lumber town. The Napiers have become a central reason why people flock to Laurel. Beyond the show, the couple owns The Mercantile, which includes The Scotsman General Store and The Scent Library. Each location has that Napier heart filled inside. Laurel is becoming a mecca for HGTV fans in the same sense that Waco, Texas blew up. Once Fixer Upper left the airwaves, fans needed their fix, so Chip and Joanna Gaines made it a destination. Between Magnolia Market, the Silos, and the various B&Bs, Waco is a new travel destination. Though they both have their own renovation and design universes, if the Napiers follow the Gaines’ blueprint, they will soon have their own network!
Home Town is available to stream on Max.
