Actor Kim Soo Hyun is making headlines for continuing his streak as the top male actor in the Star Ranking poll for five weeks.
Kim, who is currently embroiled in a high-profile scandal involving the late actress Kim Sae Ron, ranked first in the 115th round of the Star Ranking for male actors in the fifth week of May.
Between May 29 to June 5, he secured 182,052 votes, coming out on top once again. The second most popular actor on the poll this week was Lee Jun Ho, with 63,618 votes, almost one-third the number of Kim Soo Hyun. Byeon Woo Seok placed third in the rankings, securing 17,117 votes.
Star Ranking is a fan-voting platform where people can vote for their favorite stars to boost their weekly popularity rankings. The highest-ranked stars receive various benefits, and anyone who tops the poll for four consecutive weeks gets to feature in an outdoor LED billboard ad.
Given Kim Soo Hyun’s landslide victory on the poll, it is evident that he still has a dedicated fanbase despite his controversial relationship with Kim Sae Ron. However, the scandal has undeniably taken a toll on his career, affecting many of his upcoming projects. Kim was recently replaced as the model of a franchise brand by another senior actor.
