Korean netizens did not hold back criticism.
A Boys II Planet contestant is gaining attention online, but not for the right reasons.

Lee Sangwon, a former BIGHIT MUSIC trainee who appeared on the Mnet survival show as a contestant under GRID Entertainment, has become the subject of harsh criticism after clips of him allegedly clubbing before the show aired resurfaced.
According to a trending post on the popular Korean forum Instiz, Lee Sangwon was allegedly filmed dancing at a club. Although the clip is short, it has raised questions about his activities leading up to his appearance on Boys II Planet.
Another video shared in April shows someone believed to be Lee Sangwon at DOZE Club in Hongdae. The original poster claims the footage was taken on April 14, just a few weeks before Boys II Planet aired. The video has made the rounds on social media and has become a hot topic.

While some fans are defending Sangwon, arguing that clubbing does not necessarily reflect his character or professionalism, many others believe it reflects poorly on his readiness and attitude toward becoming an idol. In the comments, netizens have shared their scathing criticism of Lee Sangwon’s alleged clubbing activities.
- “Honestly, in today’s idol scene, it might be better for everything to blow up at once.”
- “What do people mean by ‘he’s just a regular person, so it doesn’t matter’? Unless they’re already under contract, all trainees are technically regular people lol. A regular person causing a scandal is still a scandal. It’s worse that he acted like that while planning to become an idol — that’s what’s crazy to me.”
- “We’re in an era where even with scandals, people still have fans… lol.”
- “Everyone’s just pretending not to see it at this point.”
- “Seems like companies are fine with it since they’re gonna debut and bail anyway lol.”
