The message is not being received too well, though, emotional or not.
After his alleged girlfriend was revealed months ago, MONSTA X‘s Minhyuk has since addressed the dating rumors in a lengthy Bubble message to his fans.
MONSTA X Minhyuk’s Explosive Dating Allegations Go Viral
The idol was slammed for being in a relationship that, according to some fans, made him neglect his fans. When it was alleged that his influencer girlfriend even tagged along where Minhyuk was shooting an official MONSTA X content, the criticism grew uncontrollably.
After some months, Minhyuk has taken to Bubble and addressed the backlash he has been receiving. Insisting that the allegations are untrue, the idol got emotional as he commented on how difficult things have been for him and how he “can’t take it anymore.”
“I don’t know if this will fully express how I feel, but after much thought, I decided to write this. I debated whether to post this on the fan café or send it on Bubble. I wanted to talk more directly, so I’m sending it here.
First of all, to all Monbebes who were looking forward to the 10th anniversary, I sincerely apologize for causing this kind of situation. I wanted to apologize sooner, but I couldn’t, and now it’s so late that I feel even more sorry.
I never intended to ignore your words. I didn’t think it was okay to dismiss them either. To the Monbebes who were hurt by my inconsideration, I’m truly sorry again. I believe I must accept the criticism and blame from Monbebes for my actions. I’m really sorry for hurting you.
From the moment I chose this career to now, I’ve always considered it a given that if I did something wrong, I’d be criticized and judged by the public and Monbebes, because that’s part of being in this line of work. So I think it’s only natural to be questioned when I’ve made a mistake.
What I’m about to say, I’ve thought over again and again. But I decided it’s only right that I tell you exactly how I feel, so I’m going to explain myself a little. Every day, things get posted about the countless things I didn’t do. A lot of the false information out there are so absurd, and I’m overwhelmed because I can’t respond to each one. The blame and attacks from these rumors are now even reaching my family.
I told myself this is a job I must endure, but I don’t think I can take it anymore. I don’t think I can endure this even if this is something I have to put up with…
Over the past decade, there have been many times when I was criticized and caught in controversies over things I didn’t do, and couldn’t clear my name. But as an idol, I thought I had to endure even that, and I’ve held on. I thought I could continue like that. But now that everything is hitting me at once, it’s terrifying and heartbreaking.
I’ve thought hard about what I can do for Monbebes right now. I believed the best I could do was to communicate sincerely, show you how I’m practicing hard and working with the members to perform well, contribute ideas for our album, and focus on being the artist I want to be. But even that seems to be misunderstood now. I’m not trying to justify myself or avoid blame. If you felt I was trying to, I’m sorry. I truly don’t know what actions I should take from here.”

Minhyuk then asked his fans what they wanted—whether he should stay away and down low for a while or he should keep interacting with them.
“That’s why I want to know… Not just based on what I think in my head, but what Monbebes truly want. Would it help even a little if I stopped communicating for a while and stepped away, or would that just cause more misunderstanding and make things worse? Would it be better for me to stay by your side even if it leads to new misunderstandings?
Honestly, I was scared even to ask this question because I feared it might come off as an excuse or be misunderstood, but I gathered the courage to ask anyway.
To me, Monbebes are truly precious and kind people. What matters most is what you all have to say. What hurts the most right now is that Monbebes think all the affection and love I’ve shown you over time are fake because of the situation.
Thank you and I’m sorry for reading this even though it’s late.”

While emotional and vulnerable, the message has not been able to convince his fans. Some saw the message as him looking for more excuses to keep distance from the fans. Others saw it as him guilt-tripping the fans for the scandal he brought onto himself.
- “Sure, he can date. But he’s also responsible for fans leaving because of it. Why is he making the fans out to be the bad guys when he caused all this? I just feel bad for the fans.”
- “Because of dating? Then I feel even worse for the fans… because now he’s asking them what he should do.”
- “Yo… I’m honestly fine with idols dating—because it’s their private life—but don’t bring the person to official schedules…”
- “The last part reads like he doesn’t even want to communicate anymore LOL.”
- “He’s clearly getting ready to quit Bubble again LOL… Always got an excuse.”
- “Sounds like he’s lost and doesn’t know what to do in this situation. I get why the comments are harsh, but since he acknowledged and apologized, fans who continue supporting him might see this as an honest question.”
- “Being an idol is seriously an extreme job.”
- “This is basically a long-winded way of saying ‘Wah, wah. What do you want me to do about it?’”
- “He seems mentally cornered and is reaching out in desperation… Are fans really asking him to leave the group? Just based on the message, I feel bad for him. Looks like he’s falling apart.”
- “Wow… On a paid communication app, and this is what he drops instead of actual communication?”
- “At first, I felt bad after reading his post and wondered how badly the fans must’ve gone off… But then I saw comments saying he brought his girlfriend to a content shoot and didn’t show up on the app for a whole year?! Honestly, he should just leave the group and do something else for his mental health.”
- “From a fan’s perspective, a message like this would feel pretty absurd to receive.”
Meanwhile, the idol’s alleged girlfriend posted on her Instagram a notice against the “spread of false rumors and the resulting damage caused by malicious comments,” at the threat of legal action.
