Should the critic have “let them crash and burn” instead?
In the latest episode of Lifeplus TV YouTube channel’s “Lifeplus Weekly,” movie critic Lee Dong Jin revealed that he once saved a popular actor from a full-blown scandal. While talking about “dark histories,” or embarrassing moments from their past, the critic recalled an interview that took a wild turn.

Lee Dong Jin noted that the interview was from a long time ago, and at first glance, all went well—including the actor leaving a polite and respectful comment under the article that he published from the interview.
A long time ago, I did an interview with a well-known actor. After the interview, I wrote up the article and uploaded it online. Right after I posted it, a single comment appeared. When I checked, it seemed like the actor had written it personally. It said something like, ‘This is so-and-so. The interview was such a great experience, and I’m really thankful that you understood my thoughts so well.’ The comment was incredibly polite and respectful.

But the critic said it could have been “disastrous,” had he not stepped in. Curious as to if the comment was real, the critic did some exploring…
I got curious, like, ‘Did so-and-so really write this comment?!’ So I clicked on the user’s comment history.

…only to find a scandalous track record.
And to my shock, the previous comments were all hateful posts about other celebrities. They had been pretending to be someone else and posting malicious comments.

Lee Dong Jin reached out right away and asked that the actor removes the comment. The actor was, at first, “annoyed” about the critic telling them to delete what they wrote. But soon enough, as Lee Dong Jin explained what happened, they were quick to wipe the slate clean!
The first thing that came to mind was, ‘This is going to become a disaster if it got out.’ So, I started asking around, finally got a hold of the actor’s contact information, and called them within 10 minutes. When I asked them if they had commented on my article, they said yes.
I told them, ‘Well, you need to delete that comment immediately.’ They were confused and a bit annoyed, asking, ‘Why?’ I told them to check their previous comment history and that they’d understand.

According to the critic, the actor explained that the comments were from “when they were younger and foolish.”
About 30 minutes after we hung up, they called me back to say thank you. They said it was something they did when they were younger and foolish, and they were really grateful I helped.

Still, viewers couldn’t help but wonder who the actor could have been.
- “Wow. I can’t even guess who. But Lee Dong Jin probably doesn’t have a good impression of them anymore.”
- “This is exactly why people need to understand that posting online leaves a record. I only leave comments that won’t get me in trouble, no matter who checks my ID later.”
- “Agreed.”
- “Sigh.”
- “Ugh… I hope the actor has since done some reflecting and try to be a better person now.”
- “Why even tell the actor though? Should’ve let them crash and burn. So they’re still doing well, huh?”
- “I wonder if the actor ever stopped leaving hate comments… I hope they did.”
- “Wait, so a famous actor was a troll? Yikes.”
- “Good thing it was Lee Dong Jin. Imagine if it was someone who didn’t like the actor or whatever. Yikes.”
- “Okay but I’m dying to know who it was, LOL.”
