The Korean entertainment industry is known for being a close-knit fraternity, with artists sharing friendships spanning decades. Among this family-like dynamics, quite a few celebrities are actually related to one another.
Here are some unexpected pairs of celebrities that you probably didn’t know were related to each other:
1. Park Sung Woong and Kim Ui Sung


Both veteran actors Park and Kim reportedly share family ties. Although they have appeared together in only three movies, they are known for their impeccable acting chops, especially when portraying villain characters. Park Sung Woong and Kim Ui Sung are reportedly second cousins.
2. Choi Myung Gil and Kwon Yul


Actor Kwon Yul is the nephew of veteran actress Choi Myung Gil. According to the actor himself, Choi is his mother’s younger sister. Kwon admitted that she was one of the biggest influences on his dream of pursuing acting. During the initial eight years of his career, he kept their family relation hidden in fear that it would affect his aunt. However, when he eventually came clean about it, he also shared that his aunt was very proud of his acting career and boasted about it more than her own filmography.
3. Park Won Sook and Park So Dam


Actress Park So Dam is related to veteran actress Park Won Sook through a six-degree family relationship. Park So Dam is the granddaughter of Park Won Sook’s cousin, making them sixth cousins. The news was revealed only recently, after they kept it a secret for nearly a decade despite working together in the 2015 movie The Throne.
4. BTOB’s Sungjae and Yook Joong Wan

Both Sungjae and Yook Joong Wan belong to the Yook clan from Okcheon. Reportedly, the two are related in such a way that Sungjae could refer to Yook as his “uncle.” The pair once appeared together on I Live Alone, and while discussing their similar surnames, they confirmed through their fathers that they indeed shared family ties.
5. Gong Yoo and Kang Dong Won


The two actors were revealed to be related through marriage. According to reports, their grandfathers were close friends even before the two actors were born. They also introduced Gong and Kang’s parents’ siblings to each other, and they later got married.
